Food Spotlight | Steve’s Korean BBQ

30 Sep

Steve’s Korean BBQ. Asian Ghetto. The best Korean fast food south side of campus…if you can call it Korean.

Yes, people don’t consider it authentic because the place is run by Hispanic/Latino people. Which begs the question, what makes certain ethnic foods “authentic?”

Does the dish have to  be cooked by someone from that ethnic group? Or can someone of another ethnicity learn how to cook the food just as well?

I don’t know, but what I do know is that Steve’s is not bad. Large portions, and everything tastes pretty good. But then again, I’m not Korean.

For those of you who have eaten there, what do you think? Does it pass off as Korean food? Or is it some faux-Korean fast food substitution?
