Random Tidbit | Lefty at Heart

6 Sep

I’m pretty sure that I was born a lefty. Everything I do, from playing tetherball to putting on a belt to holding playing cards, has shown a preference for the left.

Let me clarify. I write with my right hand, and I primarily use my right hand. But at the same time, I tend to use my left hand for tasks that aren’t to detail-specific.

I never really noticed this until middle school, when I realized this glaring fact. Naturally, I asked my parents about it. My mom blamed my dad. My dad had no comment.

So if I’m a little weird, it’s not my fault. The wiring in my brain was probably screwed up from being confused as to which hand I’m supposed to use.

One of my goals for the future is to learn to write with my left hand. Wouldn’t it be cool to be ambidextrous? Add in knowledge of Greek and Latin and I can be just like James A. Garfield!

I totally feel the same way about being ambidextrous! ahahaha I taught myself how to hold cards and do stuff with my left hand but I find holding chopsticks even harder than writing with the left hand :]

I don’t think you’re “weird”. There’s nothing weird about using both hands in my opinion. I think it’s weirder that we all tend to use only one hand when we all have 2. It’s like we have only half a brain.
